TIGERVILLE — The Claflin University volleyball team dropped its second straight match Wednesday, falling at North Greenville by a 3-0 score, with set scores of 25-10, 25-15, 25-17.

The match was the second of 12 straight road contests to start the season for Claflin, who dropped to 0-2.

With the win, North Greenville improved to 3-3 on the season.

Freshman Chania Rispress put up 15 set assists with eight digs to lead the way for Claflin. Junior Kiana Ware also contributed eight digs, while Jamie Dobson led the Lady Panthers with five kills in 11 tries for a .364 hitting percentage.

As a team, Claflin recorded 20 kills and 25 digs across three sets.

North Greenville was paced by Samantha Hebb with 11 kills. Courtney Williamson had nine kills and Kenzie Pierce contributed eight for the Crusaders. Sara Miller ran an effective offense, putting up 42 set assists, while Johna Robbins picked up 14 digs.

Claflin will look to regroup on Monday (Sept. 11) and Tuesday (Sept. 12), when they travel to Fayetteville State and UNC-Pembroke, respectively, for back-to-back non-conference matches.

Andrew Jackson Academy 0

EHRHARDT - Holly Hill Academy varsity volleyball team defeated Andrew Jackson Academy on Tuesday, 3-0, with set scores of 25-17, 25-15, 25-18.

Leading the way for the Lady Raiders (4-1 overall, 2-0 in Region 3-A was Tara Bilton with 13 aces, 2 kills and 28 receptions, Katie Rohl with 5 kills, an ace and 11 receptions, Maelee Troutman with 5 kills, 1 ace and 7 receptions, and Savannah Shuler with 9 aces, 15 assists and 7 receptions.

The Lady Raiders will be back in action at home on Thursday against Dorchester Academy at 5 p.m.

Branchville 3,

Colleton County 1

BRANCHVILLE - The Lady Yellow Jackets (7-4) defeated Colleton County 3 - 1 at home on Wednesday, by set scores of 25-11, 25-13, 23-25 and 25 - 22. Branchville was led by Danielle McAlhany with 8 kills, Kelsey Kinard with 10 kills, Abby Funchess with 6 kills, 8 aces, 21 assists, and 1 block, Madison Leggett with 8 aces, 23 receptions and 19 digs.

The Lady Jackets are back in action on Thursday at Orangeburg-Wilkinson, with the JV contest starting at 5 p.m. and the varsity contest to follow.

BRANCHVILLE - Branchville JV (5 - 1) defeated Colleton County 2 -1 on Wednesday, with scores of 22-25, 25,21, 15-7.

B-TEAM VOLLEYBALL

COPE - The Felton Lab (2-0) volleyball team took a 3-0 win at Carver-Edisto on Wednesday, with set scores of 25-13, 25-9, 25-13.

Leading the way for Felton Lab was Stephany Brailey with 12 services aces, McKenzie Morgan with 6 services aces, Trinity Winningham with 4 services aces, 1 kill, Ayana Daniels with 2 service aces, and Journey Hilliard with 2 service aces, 1 kill. 

Felton Lab returns to action on Thursday at Branchville at 6 p.m.

Orangeburg Prep

B-Team splits

SUMTER - The Orangeburg Prep B-Team volleyball team traveled to Wilson Hall on Wednesday and split its results with a win against Wilson Hall and a loss against Robert E. Lee.

OPS defeated Wilson Hall in 2 sets, 25-3 and 25-16.

Leading the Lady Indians was Elizabeth Williams with 9 service points and 8 aces, Harper Sanders with 9 service points and 3 aces, Abby Lyn Pantaleon with 6 service points and 1 ace, and Katherine Lambrecht with 5 service points and 4 aces.

OPS lost to Robert E Lee in 3 sets, 25-15, 20-25, and 21-25.

Leading OPS was Harper Sanders with 7 points, 1 ace, and 2 digs, Elizabeth Williams with 6 points, 3 aces, and 1 kill, and Campbell Delaney with 6 points, 1 ace, and 1 dig. Defensively, Kelcey Lake and Taylor Williamson led the way with 5 digs and 4 digs respectively.

Orangeburg Prep will travel to North on Thursday to play the Lady Eagles.
