WHITMIRE -- Hunter-Kinard-Tyler defeated Whitmire 50-10 in the first round of the SCHSL playoffs on Friday, with Camry James playing his first game of the season at quarterback.

James led the Trojans with 13 carries for 222 yards rushing and 3 rushing touchdowns. He was also 2-of-7 passing for 100 yards and 2 touchdowns, including a 65-yarder to Jarqwese Clemmons.

TreMahrey Jerido rushed for 83 yards and 2 touchdowns.

On defense, Caleb Hart and Jerrious Coleman each had 8 tackles, while Jamario Jennings added 6 tackles.

The Trojans rushed for 416 yards on the night.

HKT (5-6 record) will play at No. 1 seed Lamar next Friday.

WINNSBORO -- Clarendon Hall picked up a 29-28 win over Richard Winn Academy in the first round of the SCSIA playoffs on Friday.

CH will travel to Andrew Jackson Academy next Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Carvers Bay 48

Calhoun County 12

HEMINGWAY -- Carvers Bay took a 48-12 win over Calhoun County in the first round of the SCHSL playoffs on Friday.

For the Saints, Andrew Isgett went 18-32 passing with 236 yards passing, one touchdown and two interceptions, Ster’Lyn Evans caught eight passes for 118 yards and one touchdown, Willie Brown caught five passes for 61 yards and one touchdown and Raquarious Greene caught five passes for 57 yards.

The Saints finished their season 2-9 and 1-4 in region play.

St. John's 46

Bethune-Bowman 12

JOHN’S ISLAND -- St. John’s eliminated Bethune-Bowman from the SCHSL state on Friday, 46-12.

Braxton Wedgeworth scored for the Mohawks on a nine-yard run in third quarter and Jesus Benjamin scored on 19 yard run in the fourth quarter.

The Mohawks finished the season 6-5 and 1-3 in region play.

Timmonsville 72

Denmark-Olar 8

TIMMONSVILLE -- Timmonsville eliminated Denmark-Olar from the SCHSL state playoffs on Friday, 72-8.

Coach Bill Tate, in his fourth decade coaching, watched his Whirlwinds score 56 first-half points, including Chris Taylor's 70-yard kick return for a touchdown to start the game.

Next up for Timmonsville (7-4) is a second-round matchup at Ridge Spring-Monetta.

The Vikings, who got a 70-yard kick return for a touchdown from Dentel Nelson and a 2-point conversion run by Keyshawn McMillan, finished the season with a 2-9 record.

Carolina Academy 41

Dorchester Academy 6

ST. GEORGE -- Carolina Academy took a 41-6 win over Dorchester Academy on Friday, eliminating the Raiders from the SCISA Class A state playoffs.

Tyson Brand rushed 19 times for 153 yards and a touchdown to lead Carolina Academy. The Bobcats had 359 yards rushing.

Carolina Academy will travel to Dillon Christian for the second round of playoffs.

DA finished the season with a 6-4 record.

Beaufort Academy 40

Holly Hill Academy 6

BEAUFORT -- Beaufort Academy defeated Holly Hill Academy 40-6 in the first round of the SCSIA state playoffs on Friday.

HHA finished the season 2-8 and 1-2 in region play.
