The South Carolina State men’s basketball team returns to action on Saturday in the first of a four-game homestand vs. visiting Howard in a pivotal Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference doubleheader at Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center. Tipoff is 2 p.m. for the women, with the men following immediately in a 4 p.m. start.
The Bulldogs (5-12 overall, 1-1 MEAC) look to improve in league after a 63-60 win over Delaware State last week in Dover, Del. James Richardson led South Carolina State with a team-high 12 points, while sophomore forward’s Damani Applewhite and Ozante Fields grabbed seven rebounds each in the win.
Graduate guard Dante Wright is the leader in scoring for the Bulldogs with 14.7 points and 2.6 rebounds. Wright is also ranked among the top three nationally in three-point attempts in the country.
Howard comes into the contest with a 3-15 overall, 0-2 MEAC record.
The Bulldogs return to action on Monday and home against Maryland-Eastern Shore in a MEAC doubleheader at Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
