Kentucky State 74, Claflin 62 (Women)
FRANKFURT, Ky. - Coming off a 60-59 defeat to the Lane College Lady Dragons, the Lady Panthers were looking to get back on the winning trek against the Lady Thorobrettes.
Instead, Kentucky State rode the hot shooting of Sharnita Lloyd who blistered the nets for a game-high 28 points to defeat Claflin.
Style Harper added 12 points, as Ikiah Palmer finished the evening with 10 points for the for the Lady Thorobrettes, who added to their halftime eight point lead by going up by as many as 18 points late in the second with 5:03 remaining.
Tylesha Brown and Tayala Robinson led Claflin (3-11, 2-2) with 17 points each.
The first half lasted 65 minutes as 28 fouls were whistled; 13 against Claflin and 15 against the home team. The half was also marred with 27 total turnovers, 13 for Claflin and 14 for Kentucky State.
Even though the Lady Thorobrettes (5-6, 2-2) were saddled with foul trouble, they held the lead for the entire half. The largest lead of the half was eight points with 2:47 left in the first half.
The Lady Panthers return to the friendly confines of Tullis Arena Monday with a 5:30 p.m. match-up with Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference member Tuskegee Univeristy.

Howard’s Pough selected to East-West All-Star Game
Orangeburg native and Howard University All-America outside linebacker Keith Pough, has accepted an invitation to play in the 88th East-West Shrine Game set for Jan. 19 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla.
The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year joins a West roster coached by former NFL head coach Leeman Bennett and includes University of South Carolina linebacker DeVonte Holloman.
The East Roster includes South Carolina offensive lineman T.J. Johnson and defensive lineman Devin Taylor and Clemson cornerback Xavier Bruce and safety Rashard Hall. Former NFL head coach Jerry Glanville will serve as East head coach.
