SPEED & STRENGTH

OPS wins SCISA Class 3-A title in speed and strength meet

There is a window in the Orangeburg Prep weight room that displays their SCISA Speed and Strength trophies. The four trophies from the previous four years (two champion, two runners-up) will get some company after the Indians edged out runner-up Pinewood Prep among others to claim the title.

Leading the way for Orangeburg Prep was Charlie Sutcliffe (221-235), Paul Henry Davis (205-220) and Marvin Frederick (161-170) who won their weight class. Morris Mirmow, Hart Harley, Cameron Thompson, Derek Andrews, Michael Pascoe and Ben Ridgeway were all runners-up for their weight classes. Kyle Stokes, Reeves Connelly, Ryan Davis, Mark Hinds and Will Frierson rounded out the members on the team for the Indians. The team is coached by Adam Holmes, Rip Ripley and Howie Bayer. Athletes competed in the Bench Press (reps), Power Clean, Shuttle Run, Broad Jump and Vertical Jump in their weight class.
