DILLON — Lake Marion’s playoff hopes came crashing to an end Friday night.

Dillon put on an offensive and defensive show to hand the visiting Gators a 57-0 drubbing and oust them from the Class AA playoffs.

Although ending their season at 6-6 for a winning record, Lake Marion saw quarterback Deriante Jenkins intercepted seven times on the night, even while throwing for 181 yards in the game, hitting 12 of 23 attempts in the first half but only 4 of 6 in the second.

Dillon, upping their record to 10-1, will face regular-season Region 8-AA opponent Loris next week in the Lower State semifinals. Loris routed Battery Creek 56-0 to advance.

Anthony Blue put on a clinic for the home team, carrying 20 times for 245 yards and scoring 5 touchdowns. He had runs of 1 and 10 in the first period, then runs of 2, 19 and 96 in the second half. Joe Blue joined him in first-half scoring with an 8-yard score. Para Grimsley hit 5 of 6 PATs in the half to give Dillon a 41-0 bulge at halftime.

Avery McCall tossed the 19-scoring strike to Anthony Blue in the second stanza.

Dillon’s regular quarterback Thomas Grossetti returned in the third quarter to score on a 16-yard run, having been sidelined for the two previous games with an injury. Then Joe blue tackled Lake Marion’s Jenkins in the end zone for a safety and Grossetti scored again, this time a 20-yard run. Grimsley kicked the first PAT and Ahmr Dawad.

The clock ran steady in the second half after the first Grossetti touchdown.

For the game, Grossetti hit 7 passes for 72 yards, while McCall hit 13 of 15 for 192 yards.
