Will Muschamp said the coaching staff has spent the last week self-evaluating and getting ahead on some preliminary scouting of South Carolina's five remaining opponents.

So, in that same vein, we thought we'd go ahead and take a cursory look at the last few teams on the slate in 2017.

  • Vanderbilt (3-4, 0-4 SEC): Schedule before South Carolina: No games before South Carolina.

Ranking (AP/Coaches): NR/NR

Leading passer: Kyle Shurmur, 1,331 yards, 14 TDs and 2 INT

Leading rusher: Ralph Webb, 408 yards and 5 TDs

Leading receiver: C.J. Duncan, 234 yards and 2 TDs

Leading tackler: Ladarius Wiley, 59 tackles

The skinny: Vanderbilt started off strong in 2017, jumping out to a 3-0 record before getting throttled at home by Alabama 59-0. Since starting undefeated, the Commodores are winless and are being outscored 199-73. They do have some playmakers, though, with linebacker Charles White already at six sacks.

  • Georgia (7-0, 4-0 SEC): Schedule before South Carolina: Oct. 21, BYE; Oct. 28, vs. Florida (Jacksonville)

Ranking (AP/Coaches): No. 3/3

Leading passer: Jake Fromm, 1,162 yards, 12 TDs, 3 INTs

Leading rusher: Nick Chubb, 688 yards and 8 TDs

Leading receiver: Javon Williams, 312 yards, 2 TDs

Leading tackler: Roquan Smith, 53 tackles

The skinny: In year two under Kirby Smart, the Bulldogs are using a vaunted rushing attack to bowl over their opponents. They're second in the SEC behind Alabama with 282 yards per game. Fromm has filled in nicely for Jacob Eason, who was injured at the beginning of the season. Georgia has skyrocketed up the rankings and already have two top-25 wins this year.

  • Florida (3-3, 3-2 SEC): Schedule before South Carolina: Oct. 28 vs. UGA (Jacksonville); Nov. 4 at Missouri

Ranking (AP/Coaches): NR/NR

Leading passer: Feleipe Franks, 800 yards, 4 TDs, 3 INTs

Leading rusher: Malik Davis, 506 yards, 2 TDs

Leading receiver: Brandon Powell, 149 yards, TD

Leading tackler: David Reese, 53 tackles

The skinny: Florida has rotated quarterbacks this season and that has contributed in part to some offensive struggles. Franks was the starter at the beginning of the season but was benched. He took the starting gig back when Luke Del Rio was injured. The defense, though, has carried its weight by only giving up 23 points per game.

  • Wofford (6-0, 4-0 Southern): Schedule before South Carolina: Oct. 21 vs. Samford; Oct. 28 @ East Tennessee State; Nov. 4 vs. Chattanooga; Nov. 11 @ VMI

Ranking (AP/Coaches): No. 5 in FCS

Leading passer: Brandon Goodson, 658 yards, 2 TDs, 0 INT

Leading rusher: Lennon McAfee, 394, 3 TD

Leading receiver: Blake Morgan, 267 yards

Leading tackler: Colton Clemmons, 42 tackles

The skinny: While an FCS team, the Terriers are one of the best teams in the division. They run a triple-option offense and have three players with at least 350 rushing yards. It'll take disciplined defensive play to stop that kind of offense. The Terriers have one win over a team currently ranked in the FCS Top 25.

  • Clemson (6-1, 4-1 ACC): Schedule before South Carolina: Oct. 28 vs. Georgia Tech; Nov. 4 @ N.C. State; Nov. 11 vs. Florida State; Nov. 18 vs. The Citadel

Ranking (AP/Coaches): No. 7/8

Leading passer: Kelly Bryant, 1,259 yards, 4 TDs, 4 INTs

Leading rusher: Kelly Bryant, 401 yards, 7 TDs

Leading receiver: Hunter Renfrow, 282 yards

Leading tackler: Dorian O'Daniel, 48 tackles

The skinny: The defending national champions looked dominant to start the season, jumping out to an undefeated record with three wins over AP Top 25 teams (Auburn, Louisville, Virginia Tech). They were upset last week, however, at Syracuse. Kelly Bryant's also hurt, injuring his knee against Wake Forest and then leaving the Syracuse game with a head injury. They have some tough games left with a road test at N.C. State.
