Could Clemson offensive coordinator Chad Morris be on new Ohio State coach Urban Meyer's radar?

There was speculation by some national analysts Monday that Meyer has an interest in hiring his friend Morris. ESPN's Joe Schad mentioned Morris as a possible candidate for the Ohio State coordinator position prior to Meyer's introductory press conference Monday.

Morris was asked about the speculation Monday.

"There is nothing to say," Morris said. "I am just trying to win an ACC championship."

Meyer and Morris have a good relationship that dates back to 2003 when Morris, then a high school coach, visited Meyer, who was coaching at Utah.

As an analyst for ESPN this fall, Meyer visited Clemson several times this year and watched practices. Meyer also did a piece on Morris' hurry-up, no-tempo offense for ESPN's College GameDay show this year.

One snag for Meyer in hiring a high-profile offensive coordinator might be the autonomy Meyer would allow. Meyer indicated he will not call plays at Ohio State but he will be heavily involved in the offense.

Bowling for Plan B

If Clemson should lose in the ACC title game, ESPN bowl analyst Brad Edwards projects Clemson would play Notre Dame in the Champs Sports Bowl on Dec. 29 in Orlando, Fla. The Chick-fil-A Bowl is the ACC's No. 2 bowl game but Clemson could drop to the Champs Sports Bowl, as the Chick-fil-A Bowl will likely avoid pitting Clemson against Auburn as the two teams will open the 2012 season in Atlanta. Clemson also defeated Auburn earlier this season.

Auburn is projected by most analysts to represent the SEC in Chick-fil-A Bowl.

Price says knee is ‘fine'

Clemson left tackle Phillip Price (right knee sprain) said he wanted to continue playing Saturday but was pulled from the game as offensive line coach Robbie Caldwell was uncomfortable with Price's lateral movement. Price hopes his knee improves this week so he can play a full game against Virginia Tech. Morris anticipates Price will be able to play.
