Due to impending inclement weather in the Orangeburg area on Sunday, the times for this weekend's Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference three-game baseball series between Claflin University and Clark Atlanta University have been adjusted.
The teams were originally scheduled to play a single game on Saturday at 4 p.m. and a doubleheader on Sunday at 1 p.m. The teams will now face one another in a single game on Friday at 5 p.m. and in a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.
All Claflin home baseball games are played at Historic Mirmow Field in Orangeburg and are free and open to the public.
Saturday is designated as senior day where the senior members of the baseball team will be recognized in a pregame ceremony at 12:30 p.m.
Claflin is coming into the weekend with an 11-24 overall record and 7-3 in the SIAC after falling to the University of North Greenville, 14-5, on Wednesday.
The Panthers split last weekend’s SIAC doubleheader with Albany State, taking game one 5-2 and losing game two 7-8. The third game of the series was postponed due to weather.
Darrell Langston is leading Claflin in batting (.414), hits (58), home runs (10) and RBIs (38).
The Panthers have three additional players batting better than .300 as Jonathan Parnell II is batting .367, Grayland Fowler is hitting .319 and Clyde Parker is batting just over at .309.
As a team, the Panthers are batting .281 and has 314 hits with 27 homeruns.
Clark Atlanta brings a 10-20 overall record and 3-10 SIAC bill into the weekend. CAU is coming off a 2-1 SIAC series win over Benedict.
