ATLANTA – Claflin University women’s basketball player Jhanice Stokes has been named the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.

Naomi Holloway of Clark Atlanta earned Newcomer of the Week honors.

Stokes (6-foot-2, senior center) led the Lady Panthers to a 1-1 record, pushing Claflin to a 4-1 record in conference play, as they defeated Spring Hill.

The Charleston native averaged 18 points and six rebounds during the week for the Lady Panthers. In the SIAC conference win over Spring Hill, she had a career-high 23 points with eight rebounds a block and steal.

Claflin will return to action Saturday, Dec. 30, against SIAC foe Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio.
