The Claflin University baseball team will look to bounce back from a mid-week non-conference loss this weekend when they host Albany State University (ASU) in a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) three-game series.

The series gets underway Friday with a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m. with the second game following approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first. The series finale will have an 11 a.m. first pitch on Saturday.

Claflin brings a 10-22 overall and 6-2 SIAC bill into the weekend. The Panthers fell to Francis Marion 12-5 on Wednesday (Apr. 4). Darrell Langston finished the contest with two runs and two hits to lead Claflin in the contest.

On the season the Panthers have three players batting above 300, led by Langston who is batting .398. Langston also leads the team in hits with 51 and in homeruns with nine.

Jonathan Parnell, II is batting .381 with 42 hits while Grayland Fowler is batting .310 with 39 hits.

Cleveland Westbrook leads Claflin pitching staff with a 5-1 record.

As a team the Panthers are batting .281 with 287 hits.

ASU, who is riding a four-game win streak, brings a 15-13 overall record and 6-3 conference record into the weekend.

On Wednesday (Apr. 4), the Golden Rams pulled out a one-point victory (6-5) over Georgia Southwestern State University. Riliani Familia and Trey McMillian both finished the game with two hits and one RBI. McMillian also scored a run in the win.

On the season Familia is leading four ASU players batting over .300 at .370. Familia is also leading the team in hits with 37.

Jonathan Cirulo is batting .367, Quantico Dodson-Williams is batting .325 and Ryan McClendon rounds out the 300 hitters with a .309 batting average.

On the mound, Michael Reddick has a 4-1 record to lead ASU.

After the weekend series, Claflin will host North Greenville in a non-conference contest Wednesday.
