AUGUSTA, Ga. -- The Claflin University baseball team fell to Albany State, 16-3, in the elimination game of the 2017 SIAC baseball tournament. With the loss the Panthers finish the 2017 season with a 16-33 record.

Johnathan Parnell, II had two hits and a RBI and Darrell Langston had one hit and run for Claflin in the loss.

Albany State (19-29) was led by Kelvin Wimbish who went 3-for-4 with one run and four RBIs.

After Langston scored the first run of the game for Claflin in the top of the first, the Panthers defense allowed seven Albany State runs in the bottom of the first and could never recover.

Albany State put up two runs in each of the second and third innings to increase the lead to 10, 11-1.

Claflin managed to put up two runs in the top of the fourth and had bases loaded in the top of the fifth but stranded all three end its threat.

In all the Panthers left 11 men on base.

Eric DuBose, who gave up the seven runs, one earned, against 12 batters faced in the first and was credited with the loss.

Lawrence Hyd picked up the win for Albany State.
