S.C. State Spring Practice

The S.C. State football team will conclude its spring workouts with Saturday's Garnet and Blue Spring Game on the S.C. State campus. Admission is free to the public.


South Carolina State closed out their final full practice of spring drills Thursday in full pads in a two-hour morning session at Oliver C. Dawson Stadium on Willie E. Jeffries Field.

The Bulldogs will hold their annual Garnet and Blue Spring game Saturday at 1 p.m. at O.C. Dawson Stadium. Admission is free to the public.

The annual contest will match the S.C. State offense against the Bulldog defense, with the defense scoring using a special points system.

Bulldog head coach Buddy Pough, is entering his 17th season (120-67 record) at the helm of the football program. S.C. State will play an 11-game schedule in 2018. The Bulldogs open the campaign on Saturday, Sept. 1, against Georgia Southern in Statesboro, Ga.

Garnet & Blue Spring Game 2018

A. The game will feature the offense (white jerseys) vs. the defense (garnet jerseys)

B. At the start of the game and after each score, possession will start on the 35-yard line.

Scoring system

Offense: Regular scoring applies

Defense: Any regular scoring plus 3-and-out is 2 points and any stop is 1 point. Any extra point following a defensive touchdown will score for the defense.
