AIKEN — Claflin junior Jordan Wallace put down eight kills in nine attempts for a hitting percentage of .778 on Saturday, but it was not enough as the Lady Panthers fell to USC Aiken, 3-0, (25-10, 25-13, 25-11), in a non-conference volleyball match at the Convocation Center.

With the loss, the Lady Panthers dropped to 0-3 on the season.

USC Aiken, improved to 8-2.

Wallace had an effective all-around game, finishing with one solo block and one block assist for 10.5 points.

Graduate transfer Diara Lewis had six kills and one block assist while freshman Chania Rispress put up 16 set assists in the loss.

USC Aiken was led by Julia Forster, who had 10 kills with seven digs.

Avery Macklin contributed seven kills while Rebecca Martinez picked up a game-high eight digs for the Pacers in the win.

The Lady Panthers play again next week when they travel to Birmingham, Ala. to participate in the 2017 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) crossover tournament.

ST. GEORGE - The Dorchester Academy Raiders (4-1 overall, 1-0 in region) took a 30-21 lead into halftime and built on that to top John Paul (3-2 overall, 1-1 in region) by a 50-27 score on Saturday night.

Lance Brownlee was 14-for-17 passing for 193 yards and 2 touchdowns for DA. He also rushed 17 times for 114 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Colby Weeks had 102 yards rushing on 20 carries and a touchdown.

Chase Way had 4 receptions for 101 yards and 2 touchdowns.

David Cleland and Corey Judy both had 10 tackles each. Cleland also had a fumble recovery. Way and Rhett Mizzell each had interceptions.

Dorchester hosts Bethesda on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
