An undercover operation by the Orangeburg Department of Public Safety resulted in one arrest and more are likely, said Capt. Victor Cordon.
On Wednesday, investigators arrested Steven Sanders, of 597 Maple Street, Orangeburg, and charged him with second-offense distribution of crack cocaine and distribution of crack cocaine within close proximity of a park.
Warrants say the 59-year-old man sold a quantity of crack cocaine during a controlled transaction at his home on March 24.
His home is across from the Maple Street Park, which is owned and maintained by the city of Orangeburg.
Sanders has a previous cocaine conviction from July 26, 2012.
If convicted of second-offense distribution of crack cocaine, Sanders faces a prison sentence of five to 30 years, a $50,000 fine or both.
If convicted of distributing crack cocaine within close proximity of a park, Sanders faces a maximum fine of $10,000, 10 years in prison or both.
