A 25-year-old Orangeburg woman was taken into custody as she tried to bail her brother out of jail on Tuesday.

When the woman attempted to pay her brother’s bond, officers were alerted that she had an outstanding warrant for shoplifting, according to an ODPS incident report.

Police allege she stole from the Shoe Department of the Prince of Orange Mall on the afternoon of Oct. 22.

The woman tried on a pair of size 6 Timberland boots and left her shoes under a bench in the store, according to an incident report.

The woman’s brother faces multiple charges in an unrelated, more recent case.

Officers charged the Orangeburg man at 12:42 a.m. Tuesday with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, operating an uninsured vehicle and operating a non-registered vehicle.

An incident report states that the man had 27 small baggies of marijuana that contained a total 63.9 grams of the drug.

An officer originally stopped the vehicle for operating with a rear taillight out and a dealer license plate that didn’t contain an expiration date.
