A Cordova man was arrested after deputies found him asleep inside a truck he allegedly stole from his friend, according to an Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office incident report.

Jonathan Eric Vaughan, 32, has been charged with grand larceny.

The owner discovered his truck was missing on Saturday night and called deputies.

Deputies found the Ford F150 on Sunday morning at the Citgo gas station on Bamberg Highway. They say Vaughan was asleep in the truck.

The Menefee Court man’s arrest warrant alleges he confessed to taking the truck because he intended to sell it.

He told deputies the keys were in the ignition of the truck when he took it, the warrant states.

Vaughan said he’s been friends with the owner of the truck for about 15 years.

If Vaughan is convicted of grand larceny, he faces up to five years in prison and a court-imposed fine.
