BAMBERG - The Bamberg County Sheriff's Office has arrested and charged two men with two counts each of motor vehicle theft and trespass to real property stemming from a Dec. 13 incident.

Donnie T. Ryan Jr., 20, of 267 Sash Lane, Ehrhardt and Cecil Scotty Folk, 17, of 3547 Colston Road, Bamberg were arrested on Dec. 15 after an investigation by the BCSO. Both men posted bond of $2,500 each and were released.

A Colston Road resident reported on Dec. 13 that a neighbor called to say she and her husband had almost collided with one of his antique tractors on a dirt portion of Macedonia Church Road. Responding officers found a $3,000 Farmall tractor and a $500 John Deere disc tiller down an embankment on the road. The victim's $2,000 1937 Farmall tractor was also found nearby.

Upon further investigation, authorities determined several cars had also been taken from the victim. One of the vehicles turned up at Sunshine Recycling in Orangeburg, where deputies were given the names of the people who had brought it in. When the investigating officer went to Cecil Folk's house, he discovered a 1956 Chevrolet and a 1951 Chevrolet, which were subsequently determined to have been stolen from the same victim.

The two suspects, Folk and Ryan, drove up while officers were at Folk's residence. They both admitted to stealing the cars and selling one of them, according to the BCSO. Both were placed under arrest and taken to jail. The cars were towed back to the victim's property. The 1941 Chevrolet that was discovered at Sunshine Recycling was also towed back to the victim's property.

Warrants for Folk and Ryan were obtained on Dec. 16. Both men were charged with two counts each of motor vehicle theft, with a bond amount set at $2,000 surety for each offense. Both Folk and Ryan were additionally charged with two counts of trespass to real property, with a bond amount of $500 for each offense.

Guesswho - I'm as baffled as you! These hoodlums ride rural roads looking for stuff to steal. One day they're going to miscalculate and come across someone armed and ready to protect his property. After a few of those, maybe this foolishness will stop.

Okay my count is two tractors and three cars stolen. So someone please explain to me how they are only charged with two counts of vehicle theft? A $2500 bond, are you serious? Bet these POS are right back to stealing someone else's property.
