ELLOREE — Downed trees and quarter-sized hail were reported here after a Thursday afternoon thunderstorm rolled through the area.

Severe storms hit an area about 5 miles east and northeast of the town between 3:30 p.m. and 4:10 p.m., downing branches and trees in the Santee State Park as well as on Tee Vee Road and Racetrack Road, according to the National Weather Service.

A tree also knocked down power lines at the intersection of Cleveland Street and Dantlzer Street. South Carolina Electric & Gas Company had three power outages with about seven customers impacted at 5:30 p.m.

Quarter-sized hail was reported off of Old State Road about three miles southwest of Elloree by state law enforcement.
