ST. MATTHEWS - The St. Matthews Garden Club's 75th anniversary was celebrated on Oct. 25.

On hand for the occasion were J. Elizabeth "Betsy" Steele, president, Garden Club of South Carolina; Lilyan Carlson, West Sandhills District director; Sarah Ann Parler, parliamentarian and former president, Garden Club of South Carolina; and Maida Dantzler, third vice president and president-elect, Garden Club of South Carolina.

"Very few garden clubs can claim 75 years," Parler said.

Steele told the group, "I'm glad to be here to help you celebrate this occasion."

Carlson congratulated the club on reaching 75 years, noting that only seven clubs in South Carolina are older.

Nina Mack is president of the St. Matthews Garden Club.
