Spec. Demetrius Lamont Void

Funeral services for Spec. Demetrius Lamont Void, 20 of Kandahar, Afghanistan will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 25, 2009 at South Carolina State University in OrangeburgC (Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center) with Pastor Odell Simpson and Minister JoAnne Owens officiating. Burial will be held in Belleville Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Orangeburg. The casket will be placed in the gymnasium at noon.

Demetrius Lamar Void, was born April 18, 1989 to Ms. Sallie Deneed Void and the late Mr. Samuel Pelzer. He entered into eternal rest on September 15, in Kandahar, Afghanistan.

Demetrius was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church in Bowman, and served on the Usher Board and several other organizations. He was a 2007 graduate of Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School in Orangeburg.

Demetrius was a fun, loving, well mannered and much respected young man. He touched many lives in his short life. He has earned many awards.

Survivors include his mother, Ms. Sallie Deneen Void of Orangeburg; two brothers, Tacobi A. Void and Marcus Shuler both of Orangeburg; his grandfather, Deacon Townsend Pelzer of Bowman; adopted parents, Mr. and Mrs. Otis (Teresa ) Boyd of Rowesville; adopted brother, Mr. Dondre' (Beverly) Boyd of Norwalk, Conn.; adopted sister, Mrs. Otisha (Jackie) Robinson of Cayce; adopted grandmother, Clemmie D. Boyd of Rowesville; a special grandaunt, Mrs. Roseanne Void of Bowman; special aunts and uncles; Mr. and Mrs. Bobby (Louvenia) Void, Mr. and Mrs. Earl (Velma) Void and Mr. Carlton Void all of New York; Mr. and Mrs. Wendell (Shari) Void of Va.; Mr. Michael Void of Bowman, the Rev. and Mrs. Keith (Wanda) Void of St. George; Mrs. Kathy (Patrick) Patterson, Ms. Judy Aiken of Orangeburg, Ms. Sandra Ray of Greenville and Ms. Valerie Jennings of Washington, D.C.; grandaunts, Ms. Elease Gaines of Maryland, Mrs. Annie Mae Hill of Bowman, Ms. Rose Williams of North Carolina, Ms. Betty Williams of Virginia, and Ms. Clara Mae Boyd of Orangeburg; godmother, Ms. Laura Fogle of Orangeburg; godfather, Mr. Evander Johnson Jr. of Orangeburg; one granduncle, Mr. Paul (Catherine) Brown of Washington, D.C.; a special friend, Spec. Aspen N. Kukulka of Miami, Fla..; three best friends, Andre Mack of Bowman, Ryan Myers of Orangeburg and Jacob Lee Mack III of Illinois and a host of cousins, family, and friends around the world.

Friends may call the residence of his aunt and uncle, Otis and Theresa Boyd of 4822 Charleston Highway, Bowman or Stevens Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 7:00 a.m. -4:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home in St. George with a wake service from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Simmons Funeral Home in Orangeburg on Thursday, September 24.
