ORANGEBURG --Sarah K. Brant, 97, passed away September 13, 2017.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 16, 2017, at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Chuck Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Sarah was born August 29, 1920, to the late James Franklin Kemmerlin and Mary Ella Burke. She graduated from Orangeburg High School and was a former employee of Hygrade Meat Packing and Orangeburg District 5 Schools. She was a member of First Baptist Church since 1952. Sarah's greatest joys were cooking for her family, baking delicious desserts which were enjoyed by many, tending to her pretty flowers, as well as spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who lovingly called her "Granny."
Survivors include: one son, Robert "Bobby" C. Heckle of Orangeburg; a sister, Billie Ruth Heckle of Orangeburg; a grandchild, Jan Heckle Bryant (David) of Lexington; 10 great-grandchildren, Shelby Bryant Campbell (Thomas) of Gaffney, Katie Bryant, Fulton Bryant, Ethan Bryant, Leiney Grace Bryant, Lilly Bryant, Ellie Bryant, Hudson Bryant, Dawson Bryant and Lucy Rose Bryant, all of Lexington; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and late husbands, Cleveland Heckle and Gene Brant.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff of NHC in Lexington for the wonderful care they provided to Ms. Brant during the last six years, and special thanks to Jerry Entzminger for her care and devotion during the past six years.
