Robert Hastine Jennings III, of Orangeburg, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, at Palmetto Health Richland in Columbia.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 31, at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, with the Rev. Dr. Frank E. Larisey officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be George Hill, D.D. Salley, Ted Andrae, Parker Dempsey, Clarence Williams, Ed Hill, Bill Hacket, Jack Zeigler, D. Bultman, C.R. "Smitty" Smith and Raymond Burnham.
Mr. Jennings was born in Orangeburg, a son of the late Robert Hastine Jennings Jr. and Clem Buchanan Jennings. He attended Clemson University and was a 1948 graduate of Duke University. Mr. Jennings was former owner and past president of Palmetto Baking Company, and former director, president, and chairman emeritus of South Carolina Bank and Trust (formerly First National Corporation). Mr. Jennings was a Mason, Shriner, and a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran serving in World War II as a navigator. Mr. Jennings was a lifelong member of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer where he served as a vestryman, Junior Warden and Senior Warden.
Survivors include his wife Frances Dell Hartt Jennings; daughter Anne Frances Jennings of Charleston; son Bob Jennings IV and wife Lauren of Orangeburg; son William Dell Hartt Jennings and wife Harriet of Winston-Salem, N.C.; grandchildren Bryson Jennings, Hastine Jennings V, Harttley Jennings, Dell Jennings Jr. and Charlotte Jennings; and special friend Clarence Williams of Orangeburg.
