ORANGEBURG -- Funeral services for Mrs. Eddie Mae Jones, 89, of 288 Sellers Ave, Orangeburg, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018, at St. Paul Baptist Church, 2259 Rowesville Road, Orangeburg, with interment to follow in Belleville Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Charcey Priester is officiating. Mrs. Jones will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Eddie Mae Jones was born April 6, 1928, in Orangeburg, the daughter of the late Townsend and Janie D. Dantzler. Mrs. Jones passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 7.
She was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church, where she joined the Senior Usher Board and the Missionary Society and was faithful until sickness slowed her down.
She completed 12 years of education in the Orangeburg public schools. She was employed by the Regional Medical Center and retired after 21 years of service.
She is survived by three daughters, Katie Mae Myers of Philadelphia, Maxine (Woodrow) Amaker and Lorraine Whitmore of Orangeburg; one brother, Leon Dantzler Sr. of Fayetteville, N.C.; seven grandsons, Arthur Cook Jr. of Orangeburg, Kenneth (Joyce) Cook of Atlanta, William (Nadine) Jones of Greensboro, N.C., Ronald Whitmore of Orangeburg, Wilford J. Myers and Merlin (Koj) Riley of Philadelphia, and Jerome Green of Orangeburg; one granddaughter, Carla Thomas of Orangeburg; one goddaughter, Virginia (George) Bradley; one godson, Leroy (Burnette) Jamison; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and special recognition to Robert Carmichael, Rodney (Pine) Salley and Ronald Brown and a host of nieces, nephews; cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14, at Simmons Funeral Home.
