CROSS -- Mary Louise Adkins Weatherford of Cross passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Sunday, March 11, 2018, at White Oak Manor.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 15, at Avinger Funeral Home, with the Rev. Kenneth Burr officiating. Burial will follow in Black Creek Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, at the funeral home.
She was born on Aug. 1, 1929, to the late Adam and Bertie Adkins.
She was affectionately known as “Chink” or “Mamie” and touched many peoples' lives with her infectious sense of humor and love. She loved to cook for all her family and even teach them how to cook. She always had a yard full of flowers and a house full of doll babies. She loved to crochet dresses for dolls. She worked in the lunchroom at Cross High School and was also a caretaker of Mrs. Parlor. We thank the caregivers over the years.
She is survived by her son, Robert (Betsy) Weatherford; eight grandchildren, Sam Weatherford, Kathy (Todd) Griest, Sabrina (Kip) Carter, Mayor Brandon (Laura) Weatherford, Travis Weatherford, Holly (James) Weatherford, Stacey Weatherford, Rodney Weatherford, Jenn Childs, Lt. Col. Jim (Christine) Karcanes; 22 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her two sons, Julius (Son) Weatherford and Leroy (AlleyKatt) Weatherford.
Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
