Funeral services for Mr. Ervin Lovell Charley, 24, of Columbia, will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, January 22, 2009, at Second Mt. Beulah Baptist Church in St. Matthews, with the Rev. Yancy Martin officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Charley died suddenly on Saturday at Lexington Medical Center in Columbia.

Lovell, affectionately known as Levi, was born January 25, 1984, in Orangeburg, a son of Ervin Charley and Valerie Bovain Charley.

Lovell was educated in the Calhoun County public schools. He was loved by everyone because of his big heart and fond personality.

Lovell was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Benjamin Charley and George Brown, and an uncle Calvin Charley.

Lovell will be remembered as one who possessed a great love for his family and friends, well-mannered and a big smile that greeted those who met him. He leaves a light that will reflect brightly in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish Lovell’s loving memories are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ervin (Valerie) Charley; four sons, Marquell Lucas, Zykese Howell, Ethan Howell and Nasir Williams; two daughters, Shaniya Hook and Lavasia Perry; four sisters, Timika Charley, Christy Earle, Shameka Charley and Samiya Geiger; brother, Deshawn Charley; two nephews, TaMaz Charley and Rocquan Fredrick; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Hattie Bovain; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Virtell Charley; maternal grandfather, Mr. Elliott Bates; maternal great grandmothers, Mrs. Lizzie Lee Williams and Mrs Mary Bates; Aunts, Lottie Green, Pam Charley, Edvena Matthews, Iris Favor, Angela (Joseph) Dean, Lisa Bovain, Rosalind (Charlie) McNeal; Uncles, Ray (Judy) Charley, Stanley (Delphine) Charley, Barry (Elaine) Charley, Jermaine Bovain and Dino Bovain; two great-great aunts, one great-great uncle, nine great aunts, and four great uncles; and a host of cousins, relatives and many dear friends who will keep his memory alive.

Viewing will be held from 3-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Friends may call at the residence of his grandmother, Mrs. Virtell Charley, 279 Silverberry Lane, St. Matthews, and at Carson Funeral Home of St. Matthews.
