ORANGEBURG -- David Earl Shoemake Sr., 63, of Orangeburg, passed away peacefully at his residence, Friday, Dec. 1, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 4, 2017, at Dukes-Harley Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Crestlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017, at the funeral home.
David Earl was born Sept. 23, 1954, to the late Anne Kemmerlin Shoemake and Erva Lee Shoemake. He was a graduate of Edisto High School. He was retired from Albermarle Corporation and recently worked for The Oaks. He loved fishing and spending time in the outdoors. He was widely known for helping others with whatever they needed.
Survivors include two sons, David Earl Shoemake Jr. and his wife Nichole of Neeses, and Jason Beachum of Orangeburg; two daughters, Skylar and Taryn Shoemake of Swansea; granddaughters, Cloe Williams, and Abby Shoemake; a sister, Patricia Shoemake Harrison and her husband Rick of West Moreland, Tennessee; two brothers, Robert Shoemake of Charlotte, North Carolina, and John Shoemake and his wife Robbie of Rock Hill; seven nieces and nephews; 13 great nieces and nephews; two aunts, Evelyn Spigner of St. Matthews, and Lou Beth Kelly of Jacksonville, Florida, and many cousins. He was PaPa to everyone.
The family suggest that memorials be sent to St. Jude Childrens Hospital and Research, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
