ELLOREE -- Darrel Wayne Anderson, 62, died Monday, Sept. 11, 2017, at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
Mr. Anderson was born Feb. 23, 1955, in Sacramento, California. He was the son of the late John and Betty Edmonds Anderson.
Mr. Anderson attended the United States Air Force Academy and graduated from University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC). He was a veteran and served in the United States Air Force. He was a computer/analyst before retirement.
Mr. Anderson is survived by his wife, Dorothy Jean Fitzsimmons Anderson of Elloree; two sons, Philip Anderson of James Island and Gregory Anderson and wife Lindsey of New Orleans, Louisiana; a daughter, Darla Krauss and husband Randal of Irmo; two grandchildren, Danica Anderson and Tyler Krauss; two brothers; and a sister.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. with services at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15, 2017, at Fogle-Hungerpiller Funeral Home of Elloree. Hugh McLaurin will officiate.
The family suggests memorials may be made to the Anderson/Fitzsimmons Scholarship Fund, c/o UMBC, 1000 Hilltop Circle, Baltimore, MD 21250, payable to UMBC Foundation; or to the Elloree Heritage Museum, P.O. Box 54, Elloree, SC 29047.
