LEXINGTON -- Corrie Davis Smith passed away April 10, 2018, in Lexington County.
She was born June 23, 1952, in Orangeburg, a daughter of Vernon and Myrtle Davis.
Corrie was a 1970 graduate of Orangeburg High School, where she was chosen 'The State Student of the Year,' which was a first for Orangeburg High. She was also awarded the Big 'O' for outstanding achievement her senior year. She later graduated from the University of South Carolina with honors. She married Michael Smith, formerly of St. George, in 1971.
She was employed by O-C Technical College as a teacher for several years, until she quit to be a stay-at-home mother to her three boys.
She was predeceased by her son, Jason Smith; her parents; and her beloved sister, Diane Grimes, all of Orangeburg.
Survivors include her sons, Vernon (Leslie) Smith of Orangeburg and Christopher (Lanie) Smith of Macon, Georgia; her grandchildren, Virginia Ann Smith and Bricen Smith of Orangeburg; and her sister, Wilma Davis of Pelion.
The family will have a visitation and celebration of her life at the home of her son, Vernon Smith (1691 Sunset St., Orangeburg) from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, April 15, 2018.
A private memorial service is scheduled for a later date.
