OLAR -- Amanda P. Morris died Tuesday, October 10, 2017.
She was born in Olar, South Carolina May 17, 1925 to Griffen Webster and Alena Kearse Proveaux.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ruby Lee Morris Jr., daughter Amanda Patricia “Patsy” Morris, sister Ruth Proveaux McMillan, twin brother John McDuffie Proveaux and brothers Joseph Lawton Proveaux and William Kearse Proveaux.
She is survived by her son Philip Lee Morris, his wife Debra Hughes Morris, four grandchildren Jennifer Weber (Edward), Allan Morris, Amanda Gallivan (Henry), Joshua Morris (Kate). Seven great grandchildren, Emily and Haley Weber, Joshua Morris, Lillian, Caroline and Mills Gallivan and Gabriella Morris.
She started her banking career with FNB of SC, Columbia, later merging with The Edisto Bank, Denmark, SC. She held various positions in the bank until she retired after 27 years as Vice President. She was a member of the National Association of Banking Women and the American Institute of Banking.
She was a faithful lifelong member of Mizpah United Methodist Church of Olar where she served on the Administrative Board and as a Trustee. She also served on the Pastor Parish Relationship Committee, President and Member of Bethel United Methodist Women, Treasurer of Orangeburg District and Parsonage Committee for the Olar charge. She was also a member of the Charles Pinckney Chapter of the NSDAR serving on the Membership Committee.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, October 13, at Mizpah United Methodist Church, Olar, SC, with burial following in the church cemetery.
Immediately following the burial service, the family will be available in the church.
