An Orangeburg man was taken into custody on Tuesday after a local resident called 911 to report someone was inside his home.

Christopher Adams, 30, has been charged with second-degree burglary. He made his first court appearance on Wednesday.

Orangeburg County Chief Magistrate Rob Clariday set bond on the Fox Drive man at $20,000.

The Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office was called to a Glen Robinson Road residence around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday after a man said he heard someone trying to get inside, according to a sheriff’s office press release.

Security video showed a male suspect riding a bicycle up to the residence, walking around and then attempting to gain entry.

The resident said he heard the man inside the residence. Deputies found a side window and a back door open.

Deputies located Adams riding a bicycle on a nearby street soon after the 911 call, the release said.

Inv. Andy Hayes is leading the ongoing investigation.
