A 74-year-old Santee woman called police around 3:30 p.m. Sept. 30 to report a domestic dispute.
The woman complained to Santee police about her 22-year-old granddaughter and 33-year-old boyfriend, who were visiting her home to retrieve a bed.
Initially, the woman stated she wanted the couple removed from her house because their verbal discussion continued to escalate.
The granddaughter’s boyfriend told police that he was upset because he’d been trying to spend time with her and maintain a good relationship, however she “was spending all her time on Facebook and ignoring him.”
Both parties apologized, hugged and agreed everything was OK.
The 74-year-old woman stated the couple could remain at her residence if they behaved.
In a separate incident, Santee police say they spotted two men at a storage unit that looked like it had been forced open at Santee Mini Storage on Bass Drive at 7:25 p.m. Oct. 3.
Police also noticed there were two locks remaining on the unit door.
One of the men, a 26-year-old from Santee, told police he lost the keys to both locks and had to force open the door.
Police told the man that the property owner likely placed a second lock on the unit if a renter was delinquent in paying a monthly storage fee.
The man said he was two months behind on paying his rent.
The estimated amount of damage to the storage unit door is around $200.
