Voorhees College President Dr. Cleveland L. Sellers Jr. has appointed Samuel Blackwell to serve as his chief of staff.
“I appreciate this appointment from President Sellers,” Blackwell said. “As the chief of staff, I will work diligently to ensure the institution meets its retention and recruitment goals.”
Those goals include increasing enrollment to 1,200 within the next five years.
Blackwell has served at Voorhees College for more than 20 years in numerous positions, including special assistant to the president for planning, interim vice president for academic affairs, associate vice president for institutional advancement and vice president for planning and information technology.
Voorhees was recently reaccredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools under Blackwell’s leadership. This was the third consecutive time Blackwell led Voorhees through a successful reaffirmation.
Blackwell received a master’s degree in city and regional planning from Ohio State University and a bachelor’s degree from Johnson C. Smith University in political science.
