A 30-year-old Eutawville man died after his utility task vehicle collided with a deer early Monday morning.

Tyler Young, 30, of Irick Street, “died of blunt force injury of the head due to a UTV versus deer collision,” according to Orangeburg County Chief Deputy Coroner Sean Fogle.

Fogle said the death was an accident.

The accident happened at 1 a.m. on Dawson Street at Wampee Road, according to S.C. Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Judd Jones.

He said Young was traveling westbound on Dawson Street when he struck a deer and the utility vehicle overturned on top of him.

Twenty people have died in traffic accidents in Orangeburg County so far this year.
