A man is dead and at least two others are injured following a shooting incident in Santee on Tuesday night.

Orangeburg County Chief Deputy Coroner Sean Fogle said Lamont Shuler, 24, died. Shuler lived at 9367 Old Number Six Highway, where the incident occurred.

Fogle said the cause and manner of death are pending an autopsy scheduled for Thursday.

At least two others suffered gunshot wounds, according an Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office incident report.

A witness called deputies at 10:29 p.m. to report that a shooting occurred.

Once at the scene, deputies discovered three men with gunshot wounds in the backyard.

One of the men had a gunshot wound on both legs, another had a gunshot wound to the left side of his ribcage and the third had three or more gunshot wounds to his back, legs and arms.

Two men were transported by helicopters to a Charleston-area hospital. Shuler died at the scene.

A neighbor told deputies that he saw a black General Motors vehicle pull into the yard and two men exit the vehicle.

Then he heard several gunshots. The two men ran back to the vehicle and left.

The two men are described as black males standing between 5 feet 9 inches and 5 feet 11 inches and likely weighing between 140 to 165 pounds, the report said.

One of the men wore all-black clothing and the other man wore khaki pants and a white T-shirt. The man in khakis was holding his side when he reentered the vehicle before leaving.

The shooting incident remains under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Division.

Investigators are following leads but if anyone has any information on the shooting, they are asked to call the sheriff’s office at 803-534-3550 or Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
