Authorities are waiting on the results of an autopsy to determine a cause of death after an Orangeburg man’s body was located Friday afternoon in a ditch off Rowesville Road.

The man has been identified as 47-year-old William Coulter Jr., Orangeburg County Coroner Samuetta Marshall said Friday.

Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office and S.C. Highway Patrol investigators were notified early Friday afternoon after Coulter’s body was located just across Garland Drive from North American Container. He was located less than 10 feet from Garland Drive and about 100 feet from the junction with Rowesville Road.

About a dozen sheriff’s investigators and troopers responded to the location. Authorities could be seen loading a gurney and covering it before placing it in a coroner’s van parked along Garland Drive.
