SPECIAL TO THE T&D

The American Association of Family & Consumer Sciences honored its 2017 Distinguished Service Award recipients at a ceremony during the 108th Annual Conference & Expo in Dallas, Texas.

Among those selected for the prestigious award is Dr. Ethel G. Jones, director and associate professor, School of Human Ecology, Louisiana Tech University.

Jones’ career has spanned public school teaching, higher education, Cooperative Extension, instruction, research and community outreach.

Her commitment to academic program excellence has been exemplified in providing active involvement in the reaffirmation and accreditation of the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences at South Carolina State University, and through her service to the AAFCS Council of Accreditation.

Jones has received more than 40 special distinctions and awards, and served on more than 30 committees for professional and community organizations locally and nationally.

Other AAFCS 2017 Distinguished Service Award Recipients are Dr. Carol E. Kellett and Mary Turner Gilliland.
