Bamberg Police Department
A 42-year-old Ruffin man was arrested and charged with domestic violence on Nov. 12 after a woman walked into the Bamberg Police Department to report that her boyfriend had assaulted her. According to the incident report, the woman's shirt was torn and she had a fresh, visible injury.
The woman alleged that her boyfriend had come to her apartment on Main Highway and attempted to drag her out of bed. She said he then threw a pair of pliers at her, the report states.
Officers went to the apartment and located the man who denied putting his hands on the woman. He smelled strongly of alcohol, the report states.
While placing him under arrest, officers found a pair of pliers on him.

- A 39-year-old Raven Drive man was arrested and charged with indecent exposure of a sexual nature on Nov. 9, according to an incident report. Police were given the description of a man to be on the lookout for who was headed toward Dollar General on Main Highway. Dispatch advised officers the man was masturbating in the store.
The victim, a 54-year-old Felder Street woman, told officers that the man had followed her into the store and that she had thought he was going to rob her. When she looked at him, however, she saw that he was masturbating, the report states.
The suspect, who was still in the store, was placed under arrest. He told officers he did not want to talk, the report notes.
- A 21-year-old Brickle Street man was arrested on Nov. 14 after officers performed a traffic stop on Main Highway for defective equipment. The man was charged with simple possession of marijuana, unlawful carry of a firearm and no South Carolina driver’s license in possession.
When police approached the driver’s side window, they were met with a strong odor of marijuana, the report states. The man initially denied having any drugs in the vehicle but then directed officers to a small bag of marijuana in his front right pocket, the report states. Also, police located a small 9 mm handgun under the driver’s seat, according to the report.
- A 28-year-old Pentecostal Street resident was arrested on Nov. 12 after police were dispatched to a Main Highway address to investigate a report of a man with a gun.
The caller told police the man had parked his car in the middle of the street and then tried to enter the complainant’s bar in an aggressive manner, the report states.
According to the incident report, the Pentecostal Street man was asked to leave but sat in his car, threatening to shoot the complainant, who was not sure whether he saw the man holding a gun or a cellphone. Officers searched the vehicle but did not find a gun, the report notes.
The man was placed under arrest and charged with trespass, driving under suspension and having a license plate registered to another vehicle.
