Officers with the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office spent Wednesday afternoon distributing pallets of donated water to area service groups.
Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said the four pallets of bottled water will be distributed to organizations such as the Salvation Army and others.
“We’ve taken these groups most of the water and we’re distributing the rest to needy families in our county,” the sheriff said. “This couldn’t come at a better time.”
The four pallets containing more than 5,000 bottles of water arrived in Orangeburg Wednesday. It was donated and delivered by the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office.
Within a few hours, the water had been delivered by the department to area outlets for further distribution to those in need.
“We want to thank Aiken County Sheriff Michael Hunt and his agency for reaching out to us,” Ravenell said. “Many families will now receive relief from what’s been a difficult and trying time.”
