The 25th annual Cattle Creek Countryside Christmas program will be held Friday night, Dec. 1 at Cattle Creek Campground near Rowesville.

The event will start at 7:30 p.m. under the tabernacle.

The candlelight program was fostered by a vision that Jerry Thompson had to see the campground come to life during the wintry holiday as he recalled the many hand-me-down stories about the campground and its rich heritage since 1786.

"This year, we are especially thankful and blessed to have the new tents following the fire on March 10 that took 15 tents on a very sad night that will forever be remembered by all who witnessed it," Thompson said. "As we celebrate this Christmas at Cattle Creek, we will rejoice in the one who came as the light and changes situations that could be very dark into celebrations of hope."

The program will feature songs of the season, special music, a candlelight memorial to military service members and all loved ones who have passed on to heaven.

"This unique service and setting allows each to travel back in time to that much simpler era of Christmas and its festive celebration," Thompson said.

Guest soloists and groups are invited to participate, he said.

Refreshments will be enjoyed by all after the 45-minute program at Tent 36.

"Bundle up warm as the night air may be chilly but the atmosphere most refreshing," Thompson said. "Come and kick off Christmas in the countryside."
