CAMERON -- A humorous production that puts a modern spin on author Lewis Carroll's classic "Alice In Wonderland" is in store for area residents next weekend when The Performing Arts Youth Theater, a children's wing of The Calhoun Players, presents "Alice @ Wonderland."

The production, starring a large cast of students enrolled in The Performing Arts Youth Theater summer camp in Cameron that began July 10, will be staged at the Cameron Auditorium at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 11 and 12, and 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 13.

This story, based on the works of Lewis Carroll, finds a modern girl, with her smartphone in hand, falling down the rabbit hole and following one adventure after another. She meets the Mad Hatter, the Cheshire Cat, Tweedledum & Tweedledee, Humpty-Dumpty and the Queen of Hearts, just to name a few. Alice’s imagination is her only limitation. This quality adaptation has been praised by critics for its humor, artistic modern style and appeal to both children and adults.

“Alice @ Wonderland” is directed by Peggy Hirth, with music by Wayne Smalldridge and choreography by Allegra Portee.
