Orangeburg County Fair Midway Scene, 1913. The Orangeburg County Fair Association was formed in 1911, with the first fair held in November of that year. Prior to that, similar festivities were held as the Orangeburg Agricultural and Mechanical Fair in the late 1800s and then the annual Fall Festival. This picture shows the midway scene at the third county fair in 1913. Today the Orangeburg County Fair has the distinction of being the oldest continually run fair in South Carolina. The old cotton mill building can be seen in the upper left of this picture. Today that building is occupied by Zeus, Inc. This year’s fair promises to be one of the best ever with about 40 carnival rides on the grounds, along with special wristband pricing.
