ORANGEBURG OUT OF THE PAST

River Pavilion Construction, 1950: The new river pavilion at the Edisto River swimming area was built in 1950 by the city. Alec Brown, the city engineer, designed this building, as well as oversaw its construction. This new building replaced an earlier structure that was built around 1930. Today this building is the home of the Orangeburg Fine Arts Center.
