ORANGEBURG OUT OF THE PAST

Southern Railroad Passenger Station: Before the advent of automobiles, railroads provided much of the passenger and cargo traffic between towns. The passenger station for the Southern Railroad, known then as the South Carolina Railroad and pictured here, was located at the intersection of Russell Street and Boulevard, which was appropriately called Railroad Corner.
