Jessica Lauren Smith and Billy Steele Cook III, both of Lexington, SC, were united in marriage on Friday, October 20th, 2017, six o’clock in the evening at The Lace House’s Memorial Garden in Columbia, SC. Rev. Todd Carnes of Lexington officiated the service. Following the wedding ceremony a reception was held in The Lace House.
The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. John Watson Rheney, III of Cameron, SC and Mr. and Mrs. Spurgeon Todd Smith of Lexington. The groom is the son of Ms. Barbara Cook of Mullens, WV and Mr. and Mrs. Billy Cook, Jr. of Mullens.
The bride’s sisters, Mary Nicole Smith and Courtney Ann Smith of Columbia, SC, were the maids of honor. The bridesmaids were Teresa Hocutt of Charlotte, NC, Ashley Cagle Morris of Lexington and Robyn O’Donnell of Columbia. Todd Scott of Columbia was the best man. The groomsmen were Alex Morris of Lexington, Mark O’Donnell of Columbia, and Noel Pound of West Columbia, SC.
The flower girl, Lilly Williams, and ring bearers, Cholly & Marshall Williams, cousins of the bride are children of Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Williams of Orangeburg, SC.
The bride is a 2006 graduate of Lexington High School. She received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a focus in finance from the University Of South Carolina, Darla Moore School of Business in 2010. Since graduation Jessica has obtained licenses for Insurance, passed her series 7, and series 66 exams and became a Certified Financial Planner professional. She is employed by CalmWater Advisors in Columbia, SC as a Financial Planner.
The groom is a 2003 graduate of Wyoming East High School. Billy is a retired fire fighter with the City of Columbia. He currently works as an EMT for First Priority Medical Transport and is studying to achieve his nursing degree with the ultimate goal to become a nurse anesthetist.
After the wedding, the couple spent the remaining weekend in the mountains of North Carolina. Together they will choose a destination for a longer honeymoon trip sometime next year.
