Get ready for a week of fun and food at the 2012 Orangeburg County Fair.
This year’s event is set for Monday through Sunday, Oct. 1-7, at the Orangeburg County Fairgrounds. Advance ride tickets are available at local Piggly Wiggly stores. Free parking will be available all week.
In addition to shows and rides provided by Smokey Mountain Amusements, visitors will also have the opportunity to enjoy a petting zoo and interact with favorite children’s characters Elmo and Sponge Bob daily.
Headlining this year’s entertainment will be Liz Cavalier of History Channel’s “Swamp People,” who will appear at the fair to meet and greet fans. Fairgoers can also enjoy helicopter rides, beach and country music by Carl Brunson, daily performances by the HYP 2 band, local talent, 4-H livestock shows, the Miss Orangeburg County Fair Pageant and more.
“It’s our goal to fill your evenings with excitement, great food, enjoyable entertainment and wonderful fellowship,” Manager Rodney Barr says on the fair’s website.
Gates will open at 5 p.m. Monday. The fair will continue from noon to 10:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
Enjoy a taste of the fair from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Friday during “Lunch at the Fair.” Free admission will be available to individuals arriving by vehicle who park in the lower gate on Magnolia Street. Cars will be impounded and admission will be charged for those still at the fair after 2 p.m.
Admission to the Orangeburg County Fair is $6 for youths and adults 13 years of age and older, $4 for children 6 to 12, and free for those younger than 6. Students through college with ID will be admitted free until 6 p.m. Tuesday, and seniors 65 and older will be admitted free on Wednesday. Season admission tickets are available for $35.
