In the account of the creation of our universe and all in it, we see the first sin as Adam's and Eve’s disobedience led them to fear and to cover and hide themselves. The only one for them to hide from was God, and that seemed foolish as they had a close relationship and walked with God and talked with him rather frequently.

For God to ask where they were was strange to me. He made it all; he sees all and knows all. Why would He need to ask their location? God asked because He wanted Adam and Eve to know where they were. Each of us must know where we are, especially in our relationship with our creator. Knowing that we are sinners in need and that we cannot meet that need ourselves requires us to humble ourselves before God and accept that which only God can give -- forgiveness. Our forgiveness was bought by Jesus and paid in full by His shed blood on a cross. Once we have done so, we must never look back, but move ahead to become what Jesus wants us to be.

Paul wrote: "For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.” (1 Corinthians 6:20 NKJV)

We use the word GRACE to show the extreme measure God went through to provide forgiveness for us. Detrich Bonhoeffer said it this way: “Such grace is costly because it calls us to follow, and it is grace because it calls us to follow Jesus Christ. It is costly because it costs man his life, and it is grace because it gives a man the only true life. It is costly because it condemns sin, and grace because it justifies the sinner. Above all, it is costly because it cost God the life of His Son. "You were bought with a price," and what has cost God much cannot be cheap for us. Above all, it is grace because God did not reckon His Son too dear a price to pay for our life, but delivered Him up for us.

Knowing how much God loved His human creation, and the great length He went to, should instill in us, His redeemed creation, an awe-inspiring sense of devotion and worship. Once we have tasted, we cannot turn back. Hebrews 6:4-5 (KJV) -- 4) "For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened. and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, 5) And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come." 1 Peter 2:3 (KJV) -- 3) If so, ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious."

I believe the writers were telling us that when we know how wonderful it is to follow God, nothing will deter us from serving our Lord.

My dear friends, where are you in your relationship to Jesus? Are you up to date with your devotion and worship? It is my prayer that we all take an inventory and make sure we are pleasing to our God. It would be a shame for Him to call us and ask where we are. He already knows -- but do we? God Bless you in your walk with God on earth until finality in Heaven.
