Some of the best gospel talent in the area will help celebrate the 38th anniversary of a longtime local music producer.

Harry Govan of Harry Govan Gospel Song Ministries has brought gospel music to local audiences for more than three decades.

Commemorating his work, HGG Song Ministries will present the 38th anniversary of Brother Harry Govan at 5:45 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, at Calhoun County High School in St. Matthews.

“The community can expect a high time in the name of the Lord. This is the first year I’m doing just some of South Carolina’s best talent. I’m also doing more of a mixture of choirs and quartets that will hopefully be enjoyed by everybody,” Govan said.

The program will showcase eight gospel entertainers, including Pastor Henry Dixon & the Truth Tabernacle Choir.

Dixon and Truth Tabernacle recorded their first CD project, "Old Time Country Church," in 2007. The CD was nominated in 2009 for the Prestige Award at the North Carolina Radio Announcers Guild in Greenville, North Carolina. Dixon is a member of the Gospel Music Workshop of America.

Also performing at Govan's celebration will be Trinity Inspirational Choir, national recording artists famous for their hit “I Came to Tell You;” Minister Sarah Priester; the Gospel All Stars; the Prayer House Mission Choir; Big Bubba and the Eternal Harmonizers; Little T and the Jamison Singers; and One Accord.

The last day to purchase early bird tickets for $10 is Friday, Aug. 11; tickets will be $15 after Aug. 11 for adults and $5 for children 6 to 12 years of age.

Tickets will be available at the door, and they can also be purchased at Goldsteins in Orangeburg, Tri-County Florist in Holly Hill, New Edition Beauty Salon in St. Matthews and Tru-Lite Records in Eutawville.

A portion of the ticket proceeds will benefit HGG Song Ministries' scholarship fund. The scholarships are given in partnership with New Faith Community Church in Santee.

Calhoun County High School is located at 150 Saints Ave. in St. Matthews.
