Area garden clubs recently brought holiday cheer to the Regional Medical Center by decorating Christmas trees in lobbies and other public areas throughout the hospital.

For the past 36 years, local garden clubs have dedicated their time, creativity and resources in decorating Christmas trees for the RMC. The tradition began in 1981 following the construction of the new hospital building. Each garden club spends months planning for their decorations.

Ten garden clubs participated in the holiday decorating at RMC this year. The participating garden clubs and the respective location of their trees include: Palmetto Gardeners-Orangeburg, annex building lobby; Dogwood Garden Club - Orangeburg, main visitors’ entrance lobby; Verdant Garden Club - Orangeburg, Mabry Center for Cancer Care lobby; Dogwood Club - St. Matthews, admitting/registration entrance lobby; Hoe ’N Hope Garden Club - Orangeburg, Emergency Department lobby; Magnolia Garden Club - Orangeburg, same day surgery entrance lobby; Elloree Garden Club, second floor visitors’ elevator lobby; Camellia Garden Club - Cameron, third floor visitors’ elevator lobby; Everblooming Garden Club – Orangeburg, fourth floor visitors’ lobby; and Dirt Dabblers – Bamberg, RMC Urgent Care - Bamberg lobby.
