Elloree Heritage Museum & Cultural Center Inc. will host its annual Fillies & Follies fundraiser Friday, March 23. All proceeds will benefit programs, events and operations of the museum.
Elloree native and S.C. Shag Hall of Famer Jim “Mr. Shag” Bowers will serve as DJ of the event, which will be held from 7-11 p.m.
“Casual attire is the dress code for this fun event,” Museum Board President John McLaurin says. “With great music and dancing led by Jim Bowers, heavy hors d’oeuvres, beverages and one of our crowd’s favorites — the smorgasbord of delicious cakes — yes, comfortable clothing is a must!”
For information about sponsorship opportunities or to purchase tickets ($40 each), call the museum at 803-897-2225, or contact a board member.
Exhibits at the Elloree Heritage Museum & Cultural Center Inc., located at 2714 Cleveland St., depict an educational view of the Elloree area’s rural past. Additionally, an audio tour system is available; its script describes Cleveland Street as it appeared in 1900 with recreated stores, the bank and numerous other scenarios. Visitors also may explore a plantation cotton gin and learn how cotton is grown, picked and ginned today.
